چکیده
Adaptivity of eating and rumination behavior are assumed to play a particular role for cows in low-input systems, because they more frequently challenged by altering forage quality. The present study examined relations between quality, chewing efficiency estimates dairy from Swiss zero-concentrate organic farming systems. A total 102 Fleckvieh on two farms were observed during one full production year. Each farm was visited eight times. At each visit, up 45 equipped with RumiWatch® (Itin Hoch GmbH, Liestal, Switzerland) sensor head collars, which time the frequency activity changes obtained 48 h. Milk complete day analyzed individually. All offered roughages (pasture herbage, grass silages hay) sampled at visit crude fiber, protein net energy, feed quality score calculated. Metabolic estimated based entire lactation data, individual visits. Lactation stage significantly affected variables. Eating increased decreased improved nutritive feed. Coefficients variance factor animal variables showed contribution cow behavior. Significant correlations not found. In conclusion, under on-farm conditions alters changing significant effects, indicating potential new phenotypes, albeit no indications efficiency.

متن کاملEffect of forage particle length on rumen fermentation, sorting and chewing activity of late-lactation and non-lactating dairy cows.
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of varying forage particle length on chewing activity, sorting behavior, rumen pH and rumen fill in late lactation and dry dairy cattle, fed rations with similar physically effective NDF but different mean particle length. Treatments consisted of three diets differing only in geometric mean length of forage: hay (5.40, 8.96 and 77.90 mm, ...

This study was carried out to investigate the relationship between early lactation curve parameters andcalving interval in Holstein cows of Iran. In order to describe the lactation curve, the incomplete gammafunction was fitted to 5,754,428 test-day milk records corresponding to 766,108 lactations on 315,634 cowsin 2,448 herds. Cows with higher milk yield during early lactation had shorter calv...
متن کاملAssociation of Birth Type and Pregnancy Type with Lactation Performance and Lactation Curve in Holstein Dairy Cows in Iran
The association of birth type (single vs. double) and pregnancy type (single vs. double) with lactation performance and lactation curve was investigated in Holstein cows in Iran. Data of 243298 lactations on 138021 cows in 261 herds collected during January 2000 to December 2012 were used. The average twinning rate was 3.64% and ranged from 1.44% (primiparous) to 5.41% (multiparous). Factors as...
متن کاملShort communication: Lameness impairs feeding behavior of dairy cows.
The automated, reliable, and early detection of lameness is an important aim for the future development of modern dairy operations. One promising indicator of lameness is a change in the feeding behavior of a cow. In this study, the associations between feeding behavior and lameness were evaluated. A herd of 50 cows was investigated during the winter season in a freestall barn. Feeding behavior...
